Walk with the dreamers... features some of Michele Colletti’s favorite pop and torch standards, and is her first full-length studio CD. “Singing these classics transports me back to the era where pop icons like Rosemary Clooney, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Patsy Cline and so many others sang in the smoky supper clubs of yesterday, with such simple lyrics and yet so much soul.” Michele has been singing for more than thirty years. She studied at Hartt School of Music’s community division and The Hartford Academy of the Arts, and she holds an AA and BA in Fine Arts, with a Theatre major. She began performing professionally throughout the 90’s, capturing the lead roles in Nunsense, Godspell, Chicago, Sugar, No, No, Nanette and other area productions. During this period, Michele also sang with The Cabaret Company, accompanied by Chris Casey, who agreed to work with her on Walk with the dreamers... “Chris is genius! Not only is he one of the most talented and professional pianists I know, but his instinct and timing is so precise, it feels as if he knows when I am about to take my next breath, even if we have never performed the song together.” Dave Colbourne, a talented young musician/composer, who Michele worked with on past projects and who recently opened New Vizion Studio, came on board not playing the drums, but also to mix, master and engineer the project . "Dave's intense dedication guarantees that any project he works on will be of the highest quality. He is the type of person who will work on a piece until it is perfect." Walk with the dreamers... production began in May 2008. “Although it was a challenge working around everyone’s full-time jobs, professional gigs, kid’s schedules, and other commitments, the reward of working together and the thrill of the end result is well worth the wait.” A Connecticut native, Michele is also the Founder and CEO of Footlights, Center for Performing Arts, an after school program for at-risk, inner-city youth in Hartford. She opened Footlights to give teens a creative outlet for their undeveloped talent and provide them opportunities to express themselves under the supervision of supportive mentors who inspire them to reach for their dreams.
